The CBI Astute Smart Controller (ASC) turns the biggest energy users in your home into circuits you can schedule, monitor and switch remotely. Installed in the DB board on the specific circuit you want to control — most commonly a geyser, pool pump, air conditioner, underfloor heating, or lighting circuit — the ASC connects to your home Wi-Fi and pairs with the free CBI Home App on iOS or Android. From that point on, the switch behaves like an intelligent version of the circuit breaker beside it: it can be toggled manually, run on a schedule, or triggered automatically based on current, voltage, time, power draw or any combination of those variables. Where this actually pays off is with time-of-use electricity tariffs and everyday appliance scheduling. A geyser is typically the single largest electricity load in a South African home — often more than a fridge, aircon and lights combined. Scheduling it to switch off during Eskom's peak tariff windows, or setting it to only run for a few hours each morning and evening, can meaningfully reduce your monthly bill without changing anything about how you actually shower. Pool pumps benefit from the same logic: filtration doesn't need to run 24/7, and offloading it into cheaper hours saves money. The unit runs on 2.4 GHz WiFi (not 5 GHz), needs an active internet connection, and requires no external hub or bridge to work.
