A battery that never becomes the bottleneck. Most 5kW inverter + 5kWh battery combos hit the same design limit: the battery can only push out as much power as the inverter asks for, and no more. That works fine for steady loads — but the moment a geyser element kicks in alongside the kettle, or an aircon compressor pulls its start-up surge, the battery is already at its ceiling. This combo takes a different approach. The Sunsynk 5kW hybrid inverter is paired with the Greenrich U-P6100 6.1kWh lithium battery — a battery rated for 9kW of continuous discharge thanks to its 1.5C discharge rating. That leaves the inverter's 5kW output as the operating ceiling, while the battery-side has genuine headroom for the loads that spike. The Sunsynk 5kW is the widely-deployed single-phase hybrid workhorse of the South African backup market — 5kW rated AC output, two MPPT trackers for solar input (panels not part of this combo), hybrid, on-grid, off-grid and UPS modes with sub-10ms grid-loss switching, and a WiFi dongle included for remote monitoring through the Sunsynk mobile app. The platform is parallel-capable and solar-ready, so this combo can grow into a full solar setup or scale to multiple inverters over time. The Greenrich U-P6100 is where the meaningful differentiation sits. At 6.1kWh capacity (6,123Wh), 51.2V nominal, 119.6Ah, and 200A continuous discharge current, it delivers up to 9kW of continuous power to the inverter — well above what the 5kW Sunsynk asks for. That gap matters when your day-to-day loads include motor start-ups, cycling aircons, or kitchen appliances overlapping during peak family hours. The battery absorbs the surges without throttling; the inverter caps output at its rated 5kW. Max charge current is 80A, cycle life is rated at 6000+ cycles, and the unit ships with the same feature set that installers expect: integrated BMS with over-charge, over-discharge, over-current, short-circuit and temperature protection, plus CAN, RS485 and RS232 communication for broad hybrid-inverter compatibility (Sunsynk, Deye, Growatt, Goodwe, Voltronic and others per manufacturer documentation). Physically, the U-P6100 is a 57kg rack-mount or wall-mount unit measuring 220.6 × 438 × 536 mm — designed to fit standard 19-inch racks or hang cleanly on a wall next to the inverter. Parallel capability extends to 15 units, so the storage side can grow to nearly 100kWh in a single string if the household's needs expand.
