BESTECH Fairchild Titanium Gold – BT2202D
The BT2202D Fairchild is a large folding knife from BESTECH Knives, designed for both everyday carry and demanding tasks. Its 3.97″ drop point blade is crafted from CPM-S35VN stainless steel with a sleek satin finish, providing excellent performance and durability. The action, running on ceramic ball bearings, is incredibly smooth, ensuring a tight lockup for safety during use.
Unlike many of BESTECH’s other designs, this knife features a blade hole instead of a thumb stud or flipper tab, allowing for easy one-handed opening with either the thumb or a reverse middle finger flick. The handle is constructed from gold anodized, milled 6AL4V titanium, designed to fit comfortably in your hand for extended cutting tasks. Additionally, the blade choil provides an excellent choked-up grip, maximizing stability on this exceptionally sharp knife. Both the pocket clip and backspacer are made from high-quality 6AL4V titanium, ensuring reliability, and the design includes a generously sized lanyard slot for added versatility.
About CPM-S35VN Stainless Steel
CPM-S35VN is a martensitic stainless steel engineered for enhanced toughness compared to CPM-S30V. It is easier to machine and polish, with a chemistry adjusted to form niobium carbides alongside vanadium and chromium carbides. This substitution provides CPM-S35VN with 15-20% greater toughness without sacrificing wear resistance, making it highly resistant to edge chipping. Additionally, the use of vanadium and niobium carbides improves edge retention compared to conventional high chromium steels like 440C and D2.
